The new winemaker for Cherubino Wines will join one of the most successful houses and dynamic production teams in the country.

A Western Australian leader, it has received some of Australia’s top awards in recognition of excellence across all areas of the business. Capital investment projects, including the new Metricup winery and the next stages of clonal, varietal and soil biology trials, are key to driving continual improvement.

Reporting to the Senior Winemaker/Manager, this is a hands-on operational and leadership position. With a focus on high-end Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon the portfolio also has a great range of Mediterranean varieties from across Margaret River, Pemberton and Great Southern. Working with colleagues across the business from Viticulture to Sales and the broader community through wine shows and promotion, it requires a real sense of fine wine culture and international perspective.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Wine Science, Applied Science, Oenology or equivalent discipline;
  • At least 4 years’ relevant experience in high-end winemaking, including experience with high quality Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon;
  • Proactive in preventative maintenance and risk mitigation;
  • Competency with modern software systems;
  • Solid laboratory skills;
  • Proactive involvement with the broader wine community;
  • Good understanding and drive for fine wine culture.
  • Excellent palate & understanding of international wine styles;
  • Excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills;
  • Creative and energetic approach;
  • Proactive, with attention to detail;
  • Operational efficiency and an eye for business improvement;
  • Physically capable of performing active cellar duties;
  • Valid driver’s licence;
  • Ability to work extended hours when required;
  • Capacity for light domestic travel.
