First Creek’s new Winemaker will have the opportunity to be part of a small winemaking team, directed and mentored by industry leader Liz Silkman, three-time Hunter Valley Winemaker of the Year. This is a role for an ambitious Winemaker to be immersed within the fine wine culture of the Hunter Valley community and First Creek Wines, gaining experience and a broad range of skills. With responsibilities across all winemaking operations, this is a hands-on role that will also supervise and train winery staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Tertiary qualification in Oenology
- 5 years relevant experience, familiar with efficient medium-large scale production systems and operations
- Valid forklift & driver’s licence
- Strong technical skills, with high level attention to detail
- Proficient in production functions, including blending and bottling
- Sharp palate and knowledge of a broad range of wine styles
- Enthusiastic approach to fine wine culture and industry involvement
- Interest in learning wine business and commerce fundamentals
- Aptitude for team work and leadership
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Physically capable of performing operational duties
- Capacity for domestic travel
- Ability to work extended hours when required
