The new Vineyard Manager will be the key driver in quality focused viticulture for Tolpuddle Vineyard, aligning the recent expansion and improvement works with their renowned level of excellence. The 31 Ha vineyard incorporates innovative and modern farming practices using organic and sustainable principles.

Reporting to the Group Viticulturist, this is a hands-on role that will be responsible for all vineyard operations, viticulture plans and programs, as well as management and leadership of the team. The Vineyard Manager will represent the business and be an active participant in industry, trade and media events. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage vineyard operations, coordinating and overseeing all plans and programs, at times carrying out tasks
  • Manage the vineyard team, including casual and contract labour, ensuring operations are completed effectively and efficiently
  • Provide leadership, training and technical support to all staff, providing opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Uphold safe work practices and maintain a safe working environment
  • Oversee and contribute to vineyard development projects
  • Contribute to budget development, control allocated budget, maintain accurate records and provide regular reports
  • Oversee and direct all maintenance programs and equipment
  • Be a brand advocate, hosting visitors, trade and VIPS in the vineyard, as well as involvement in industry events such as technical presentations and workshops

Job Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in viticulture or similar discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience in high-end viticulture and vineyard management
  • Team management experience, with strong leadership skills
  • Experience in organics, biodiversity and/or sustainable farming practices an advantage
  • Proven ability in controlling budgets and reporting
  • Articulate, with strong presentation skills and experience with trade and media
  • High attention to detail and focus on quality
  • Organised & effective time management skills
  • Ability and willingness to undertake manual labour tasks
  • Capacity for light domestic travel
  • ChemCert chemical handling certificate
  • Valid high risk forklift licence & driver’s licence
