As Direct Sales Manager, you will be responsible for developing and managing the DTC sales and brand strategy, building strong customer engagement and driving wine sales growth. Reporting to the Director of Wine, this role will bring to life the fledgling wine club and reinvigorate the cellar door, showcasing the Marnong Wines portfolio. You will manage the Cellar Door Supervisor working closely with the Wine team as well as the wider Marnong Estate team to drive customers to this unique venue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the direct sales strategy encompassing cellar door, wine club, online, tasting, events and wine experiences
  • Execute DTC campaigns (EDM’s, social media), tasting options and wine experiences in collaboration with the Estate Marketing Director
  • Manage online wine shop content and DTC inventory
  • Maximise the potential of the recently established wine club, implementing a strategic growth plan to increase membership, engagement and revenue
  • Represent the brand at trade and industry events, liaising with associations and organisations
  • Manage budgets, controlling expenditure and meeting sales targets, to optimise profitability
  • Develop and review performance data and customer insights, delivering detailed reports and recommendations

Key Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Business or related discipline, highly desirable
  • Previous experience in a similar role in the wine industry (premium alcoholic beverages, tourism and hospitality may also be considered)
  • Track record of developing and implementing DTC campaigns; sales and marketing plans; and communication strategies
  • Strong digital marketing capability
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of wine styles and trends – WSET or similar wine appreciation course, is desirable
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability
  • Commercial and financial acumen
  • Flexibility to work some weekends, evenings and holidays, as required (likely monthly)

Winery

The new state-of-the-art, architecturally designed 2,800sqm winery was completed in 2024, built to expand with the ongoing vineyard development plans.

In addition to the high-end winemaking facilities and temperature-controlled cellar, it also includes a private dining room and a commercial kitchen, that will cater to corporate and private events.

Vineyard

The Estate’s first vines were planted in 2016 and ongoing vineyard development work has expanded operations to include sites in Macedon, with a total of 34 Ha currently under vine. Recent additional planting includes an 8000 per Ha Chardonnay plot, with further growth plans underway.

The diverse mix of varieties include Chardonnay, Fiano, Pinot Grigio, Glera, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Sangiovese, Montepulciano.
