Yarra Valley Phylloxera Expansion 2007 – 2023

Phylloxera security remains an ongoing necessity, especially during busy periods when the pressure to move at pace is high. This graphic shows the shift in PIZ boundaries since phylloxera was first discovered in the Yarra Valley in late 2006 (which means it’s been there >20 years now). That gradual movement over the years is perfectly normal; this is just what it does once it arrives in a region so watch out for complacency in your team, contractors, neighbours, visitors and yourself. With apologies to Curtis Mayfield – keep on keeping on with biosecurity.

Check out this great report recently released by Vinehealth Australia which summarises the lived experience, costs and lessons from the region over that time – click on the image below to read about it.
